I was almost literally dragged by my parents to attend a "Bai Ting Kong" last night. Bai Ting Kong means worship the sky in cantonese, Something we Hokkien people do to celebrate our new year.

Um, just so you know, we don't exactly WORSHIP the sky or anything. Its more to fireworks, fire, roasted pigs, bamboos(yes, bamboos), more food and so on.

Damp hair and without make up. Because I didn't want to give in at first, but in the end I still lost and had to follow my parents. Thus, no time to play dress up.

We went to my dad's friend's place. There was a dinner with lots of wine, beer, and good food. Also, inside his house was crammed with gamble groups. At the porch, living room, study room, and everywhere else. Gamble groups scattered everywhere, I think there was more than 5 groups.

A little warm up before the real thing, firecrackers.

The whole street was lighting up firecrackers endlessly, not just this house. There was even one house which constantly played the recorded sound of firecrackers -_-

Sorry I was too bored, I never did like attending this kind of thing.

They have a cute doggie (: Which is very afraid of fireworks btw.

Two giant roast pigs omg.

Almost 12AM, time to get ready..

The men prepared the altar(I don't know what to call it) to be burned.

Everyone was yelling, "Ong ah!", "Fatt ah!" throughout the burning process. It means wealth and prosperity and supposingly calling out loud brings them closer to us?

Open burning, ahwells (:

Saw more than 5 lanterns(yes those tiny dots) that night. All of them flew so high up until they can't be seen.

And of course, fireworks.

My this uncle bought 2 boxes of giant fireworks. 168 shots each. (168 in cantonese means get rich) I recorded a small part of it! Have a look, its like attending a countdown (:

Reached home around 2AM, all zonked out and smelled like smoke. But I still went to bed without bathing, hahaar.

As predicted, I couldn't wake up for school this morning so I skipped it. Went for breakfast and completed my work at SS15 instead.

I don't know how to speak Hokkien btw.
